Objectives:
Students you will be able to recognize note values of the whole note, half note, quarter note, eighth note, and dotted half note by sight and by the number of beats they receives when 4 is at the bottom of the time signature.

Musical notes are symbols that represents the sounds that you hear in music. They represent the pitch and the length of the sound. They look different because they sound different. Read "What is rhythm?".

Rhythm is a combination of beats
that create a pattern in a song.
The beats can be long or short. The
notes contain the beats. You will need to learn to identify the note values and the note names. Note values are the number of beats a note receives. Watch the video.
